Trussville Library

Located in the heart of Trussville, AL, the Trussville Public Library has launched a wave of revitalization in this community. The 14,000 sq ft addition doubled the original size of the library and now includes a lounge, study areas, small meeting rooms, and a 300-seat multipurpose room for expanded library activities as well as community events.

In an effort to provide an inviting and fun place for young people to work and study, power was included in almost all the lounge furniture and tech-driven study rooms were provided as well as vending/ coffee stations and two computer labs. Reconfiguration of the existing stack space was critical in order to capitalize on the large windows and bring the natural landscape into the interior experience. Previously, the staff workstations were very enclosed and isolated from the patrons. Functionally, this caused a lack of accessibility and a major disconnect. The new low-profile workstations provide visual connectivity to the staff and look perfectly built into each area.

The furniture finishes throughout the facility support the natural world aesthetic by bringing in colors, textures, and finishes that provide a calming, contemporary foreground against the peaceful park beyond. In addition to supporting the overall design vision, the furniture provides highly durable and cost-conscious solutions that this public institution can enjoy for many years to come.
